The Advanced Criminal Law Studies Committee (ACLSC) hosted the highly anticipated Trial Ranking Rounds on 13th September 2024, centered around a high-profile murder case on a yacht. This event, marked by its complexity and intensity, drew in top legal minds and aspiring advocates to showcase their courtroom skills. Spearheaded by Prateek Akash, the convenor of ACLSC and event head, the rounds followed a procedural test that meticulously filtered participants, selecting the top 30 teams from numerous entries. These teams went head-to-head in simulated trials, presenting their arguments, cross-examinations, and legal strategies in an environment designed to mirror real-life courtroom drama.
The event proved to be a significant success, with participants demonstrating exceptional legal acumen and attention to detail, all under the watchful eyes of a distinguished panel of judges. It set a new benchmark for future legal competitions, offering a unique platform for students to engage with high-stakes criminal law and hone their litigation skills in a challenging yet rewarding setup.
